Priorities
Knowledge not Politics
We will promote knowledge as the basis of decision making, not politics. We will work for residents, not vested interests and will talk to the community, bringing participative democracy to Warringah.
Charter of Reform
The SOS Team has committed itself to implementing the Warringah Council Charter of Political Reform, ensuring Transparency and honesty
Environment
Warringah’s unique natural environment must be protected. It is a main reason so many of us choose to live here. Save our Suburbs will work to protect our area’s scenic beauty, flora and fauna, beaches and oceans.
Sustainable Development
We will work to establish Warringah as a model of sustainable development. The Save Our Suburbs team will take into account social, economic and environmental factors in every decision. In particular we will strive to accommodate urban growth sensibly and sustainably by encouraging new house to be developed in areas in which it make sense in terms of employment opportunities, transport and social services.
Business and Employment
Save our Suburbs will work to attract businesses to Warringah that provide high-quality, creative employment opportunities for our highly-skilled workforce, now and into the future.
Sport and Recreation
The SOS Team will work to promote a diversity of sporting and recreational opportunities for all. This means developing new facilities and maintaining existing sites to that everyone can enjoy their chosen sport and open spaces do not become the exclusive domain of the few
A wide diversity of non-sporting activities must also be provided. We will work to make sure that Council’s facilities are available to all and that opportunities for residents to participate art, music, dance, community education and other cultural pursuits are expanded.
Youth
The SOS Team will work with young people to develop programmes and opportunities, that are youth-oriented and youth-initiated
Local Focus: Regional Cooperation
Our focus is local, but we also believe that, working cooperatively, councils on the Northern Beaches can achieve much for our communities. The Save Our Suburbs team will take a regional approach on issues affecting us. Local transport planning, social services, environment, employment will all be better managed if we work together.
